What is FIRST?
- FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology and is a non profit organization that promotes STEM.
- FIRST has 5 programs aimed at different age groups: FLLD, FLLE, FLLC, FTC, and FRC.
- FIRST inspires students to participate in robotics and use the engineering process mindset.
- FIRST pushes for their students to have a thinking and step by step process to prepare them for the real world.
- The FIRST community operates on the core values of gracious professionalism, coopertition, and having fun!
- FIRST is a great balance of Core Values, thinking skills, programming, and engineering.
FIRST Programs
- FLLD - Students ages 4- 6 years old
- A fun introduction to the STEM world in which students use LEGO and LEGO Duplo blocks
- FLLE - Students ages 6-10
- Students earn the fundamentals of engineering, explore real world problems, and learn how to code with LEGO bricks.
- FLLC - Students ages 9-14
- Students research, problem solve, program, and build LEGO robots.
- FTC - Students 13-18
- Students learn to build a robot , program with Java, and strategize at high level.
- FRC- Students 14 - 18
- Large teams will have to program and build industrial-size robots in a highly competitive setting.
